The Rock Port Blue Jays traveled to Oregon to take on the South Holt Knights in week 7 on Friday, October 9.
South Holt received the ball to start the game and managed their longest drive of the night as they were able to move it to the 20 yard line before Jadyn Geib picked a pass off on the seven yard line. Running back Brock Sebek-Holmes was the first to score for the Jays on a 56 yard run up the middle and followed that up with the two point conversion. Logan Ellis was next to score in the first quarter as he got behind the defender and Westyn Amthor put it out in front of Ellis, who stretched to pull it in and went 50 yards for the touchdown. Reid Ellis was good for the PAT, giving the Jays a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Rock Port would score 32 points in the second quarter with Jack Meyerkorth scoring on a 43 yard pass, a 36 yard catch and run and a 20 yard reception. Logan Ellis put on the final exclamation with one second remaining on a 16 yard reception from Westyn Amthor. This would bring an end to the game at halftime with a 48-0 score over the Knights.
Rock Port will be at home on Friday, October 16, taking on fifth ranked Nodaway Valley. The Blue Jays will recognize senior athletes participating in football, girls’ golf, cross country, cheer, and band and their parents for Senior Night.
