The Rock Port Blue Jays hosted the Nodaway Valley Thunder Friday, October 16. For those of you who were able to attend the game, there was no lack of action in this high scoring match between the #2 and the #5 ranked teams in Missouri 8-Man that ended 92-60.

Rock Port seemed to be pulling everything together at the right time as they faced their third ranked team of the season, Nodaway Valley Thunder. Following a defensive stop, return man Jack Meyerkorth got scoring started with a 70 yard punt return to put the Blue Jays on the board. On the next Rock Port possession, running back Brock Sebek-Holmes would follow that up with a 29 yard run on Rock Port’s second play from the line of scrimmage for six. This would be the first of nine touchdowns by Sebek-Holmes. He rushed for 278 yards and seven touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns during the night.

Rock Port dominated on all sides of the ball. Offensively, the Jays totaled 565 yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively, the Jays combined for 86 tackles. Leading the way were Jack Meyerkorth with 16, Logan Ellis with 12, Reid Ellis with 12,  and Brock Sebek-Holmes with 11. Rylan Hunter, Desmond Chaney and Brock Sebek-Holmes all had sacks on the quarterback.

Nodaway Valley is a good team, but the Blue Jays just had too many answers for the Thunder. This win gives the Blue Jays the number 1 seed for District play.

Rock Port travels to Mound City this Friday for their final game of the regular season.
