A two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 59 west of Westboro, Missouri, injured three, including a child, on June 26, 2026. The wreck occurred at 2:25 p.m. four miles west of Westboro as a 2007 Dodge Nitro was headed northbound on Hwy. 59 and a 2020 Ford Crown Victoria was driving southbound on Hwy. 59. The 31-year-old Tarkio, Missouri, driver of the Dodge Nitro attempted to turn west onto Hwy. B and the front bumper of the vehicle struck the front driver side of the Crown Vic, driven by a 43-year-old Northboro, Iowa, woman. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels facing east blocking the northbound lanes of Hwy. 59.

The driver of the Dodge, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and her five-year-old male passenger of Tarkio, who was safely restrained, suffered minor injuries. Both were transported by the Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri. The driver of the Crown Vic, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was transported by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Shenandoah, Iowa, Medical Center. The Dodge Nitro sustained moderate damage and the Ford Crown Victoria was totaled. Both were towed from the scene by Double M Towing.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. K. L. Ebersold, who was assisted by Tpr. E. M. Sigman, the Westboro Fire Department, Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Atchison-Holt Ambulance District, and Tarkio Police Department.
